Navarathri is a festival lasting for Nine days beginning from the next day after the New Moon of “Kanni” (October) and ending on the Tenth Lunar day, Dasami. On the 8th Lunar Day (Ashtami) hundred of students and devotees bring packets of their books to the temple with their names and addresses written on the slips pasted on the packets to get them adored. On the Vijayadasami Day, the worshipped books are returned to the respective devotees along with Prasadam. Further hundreds of young children are brought to the temple by their parents for initiating them to the study of Malayalam Alphabet (Ezhuttiniruthal). The entire street is swarmed with various sorts of vehicles such as Scooters, Bikes, Aurorickshaws and Cars, all waiting ina queue to get them adored.
