In connection with the Bharani celebration of the Kodungallur Sree Kurumba Bhagavathi Temple the devotees of Kannanchery Ganapathy Temple used to visit Kodungallur. As a preliminary procedure for the journey, the karanavar of the Temple convenes a meeting of the devotees and selects the two most experienced and frequently visited visitors of Bhagavathi Temple called the MOOPPAN & EDAMOOPPAN respectively to lead the team of the pilgrim. Every year, they commence the journey invariably in the afternoon of the THIRUVONAM Nakshathram of the Malayalam month “MEENAM” and have a solourn at night on the same day at Sree Krishna Temple, Guruvayur. In the wee hours of the next morning they resume their journey to Kodungallur and return to Kannanchery on the third day.
